  17. Metaform doesn't actually use metaballs, but some of the objects made
  18. with it look a lot like metaball objects in that they very smooth
  19. curves, and it's not hard to get a "blobby" look if you want.  Although
  20. Metaform lacks the ability of the metaballs technique to animate the
  21. coalescing and fissioning of objects, it allows for a much wider
  22. variety of shapes, and it's easier to control than metaballs.  I'm
  23. especially excited about the potential of the Metaform technique for
  24. building figures for character animation.
